The B70 follows Regent Street in Douglas town centre, a route which it is almost impossible to explain rationally. Today it extends for about 80m, half of which is pedestrianised, and the other half little more than access to some loading bays and narrow twisting back alleys between the shops on Duke Street and the hotels and guest houses along the Promenade. In 2010, the loading bays were disabled parking bays, and the seafront site which is being redeveloped was a car park, but the western half of Regent Street was already pedestrianised. Whether it ever served a useful purpose (as a B road) is uncertain, perhaps it was a through route before Marks and Spencers was built, connecting with the equally absurd B78.
