The B838 is a very short, unsigned route connecting the A814 and A83 in Arrochar.
The road starts on the narrow A814 on the shore of Loch Long and curves round beside the parish church along Church Road. At the back of the church, the road TOTSOs left onto a single track road which is still called Church Road. This road climbs steeply up above the village, widening out and serving some housing estates before a fairly straight run lined with bushes takes the road to its end. It meets the A83, at a sharp fork by the war memorial, as it cuts across Glen Tarbert to the A82 and Loch Lomond. It was perhaps a useful short cut in the past, but is now unsigned and largely unused by anyone but locals.
The 1922 MOT Road List defines this route as: Link at Arrochar
