For the former B988 between the A92 and A946, see B988 (Justice Street).
The B988 provides a link between the A92 (The Parkway) and the B991 (St Machar Drive) in Aberdeen. It starts on the A92 and initially heads south along Gordon Brae, curving between housing estates and playing fields. It then crosses the Diamond Bridge, which opened in 2016, and continues south east along Gordons Mills Road and soon becomes Tillydrone Avenue as it turns south once more through a mixture of housing estates. It then comes to an end on the B991 at a signalised crossroads, which has replaced a roundabout. The route therefore allows access towards the city centre without needing to pass through the busy A92/A96 Haudagain Roundabout or the equally busy Bridge of Don crossing.
The road was classified in 2020 following a review of principal and secondary routes in Aberdeen.
