Bridgemill Roundabout lies at the northern entrance to Girvan on the Ayrshire coast. It marks the western end of the B734, where it terminates on the A77 after a somewhat circuitous route through the hills to the east. The roundabout also serves the local hospital, which sits on the riverbank to the west of the A77. Indeed, the hospital has been built on the old line of the road, although whether the road was moved to accommodate the hospital, or to provide a better alignment, removing a sharp turn to the south of the bridge over the river, is not clear.
The roundabout is a large 4-arm junction where the A77 approaches from the north, and turns to the south west. The B734 approaches from the east, albeit such is the layout of the junction that it almost forms a straight line with the southern arm of the A77, and the hospital access is to the north west, quickly turning northwards onto the old line of the A77.
