Roads by Area are lists of roads filed by the areas that they pass through.

This list is intended to be a of large (urban population of over 200,000) or regionally important cities only.

The categories include roads that serve or bypass the cities listed and their rural hinterlands. An example of this would be that the M5 is included within the Birmingham category, even though at no point does it enter the city itself.

Primary Destinations that are below the threshold for direct inclusion in this category can be found in Category:Smaller Primary Destinations, whilst other places that are not Primary Destinations can be found in Category:Non Primary Destinations.

For Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, destinations are in Category:Irish Destinations
