Charlie Brown's is the roundabout sat underneath the southern Woodford Interchange terminus of the M11.
The roundabout was built in the 1920s as part of the A406 Southend Road. There was a pub called "The Roundabout", which was built at the same time, positioned just north of the current roundabout. This was nicknamed Charlie Brown's after the managing tenant of the pub, who was given the tenancy after his pub on the docks was demolished.
Just to the west of Charlie Brown's, at the junction of Maybank Avenue was Child's Corner; this was removed with the addition of slip roads from the north circular down to Charlie Brown's.
The roundabout was enlarged when the M11 was constructed. The A406 east of here was soon moved onto a new alignment.
