The Denham Spur was to have been a short link motorway between the North Orbital Motorway (Ringway 4) at the Denham Roundabout and Ringway 3 north of Ruislip. It was to serve long distance functions - cutting the corner between the M40 and Ringway 3 to the north (avoiding the need to go all the way to Northolt and back out) and also to transfer long distance traffic between ringways, due to the local nature of the North Orbital north of Denham and the more built up nature of Ringway 3 south of Denham.
