History
In early plans for a Derby inner ring road, there was not a junction planned at the present site- instead the ring road would continue out towards the Pentagon Island, from where it would link to The Cock Pitt.
...More to come...
During 2010 and 2011, the junctions of the A601 were numbered. This numbering shows Derby City Council consider the ring road to begin at this junction, as it is numbered Junction 2 (The Pentagon Island, despite not being on the A601, is Junction 1)
