Bloomfield Roundabout, also known as Edinburgh Road Roundabout is the junction where the A701Edinburgh Road crosses the A75Dumfries Bypass. Constructed with the bypass, the roundabout is one of several along its route, most of which are standard 4-arm junctions, and this is no exception. The junction is therefore an unremarkable roundabout, where the A701 runs northeast out of Dumfries ultimately reaching Edinburgh, although most traffic for the capital will divert onto the motorway at Beattock. Meanwhile, the A75 crosses at right angles as it curves around the town, and heading west it crosses the meandering River Nith three times before reaching the next junction.
