Description:A6 D2 section, High Hesket

This is a rare example of a short D2 section that HASN'T been hatched out to single lane, and the whole layout just oozes 'old major road' atmosphere. The building on the right is a furniture shop but was originally the Astra Cafe. This was where the Scotland-Lancashire coach services used to take the refreshment stop before the M6 opened. An even older alignment of A6 can be seen top left, climbing up to top right.
