Grey's Bridge crosses the River Frome on the B3150 in Dorchester. This is Grey's Bridge where the Dorchester to London Road crosses the Frome just outside the town. In the novel the dying Fanny collapsed against the guard stone of this bridge and was rescued by a large dog that acted as her crutch and got her as far as the town's poor-house where she died. Prior to the building of the bypass it was part of the main A35 road.
