The Huntercombe Spur forms junction 7 of the M4.
It was built as part of the Maidenhead Bypass which opened on 26 June 1961 and was a connection back to the A4. When the Slough Bypass to the east opened on 9 April 1963 it was left as a spur, as the route of the M4 to London needed to go round the south of Slough.
From the M4 the spur is signed "Slough (West) A4" and from the A4 it's signed "Reading, London M4"
