The Icknield Way is one of the oldest roads in British Isles, predating the Romans by centuries - if not longer. There are 'Upper' and 'Lower' routes between Lewknor and Ivinghoe. The exact ends aren't known, with various suggestions, however both The Ridgeway and Icknield Way Path long distance footpaths form part of the route.
