Iron Bridge Junction is a limited access junction on the A30 near Honiton.
It was originally conceived in the early 1970s when plans were made to upgrade the A30 between Exeter and Honiton to a dual carriageway. The initial stage was to dual the section between the M5 and the existing substandard dual carriageway between Iron Bridge and Honiton. A junction at Iron Bridge similar to what currently exists would be built as a temporary tie in between the new and old sections. The second stage would be to upgrade the dual carriageway between Iron Bridge and the Honiton Bypass to modern standards and close the junction at Iron Bridge.
These proposals were never carried out and a revised scheme for dualling the A30 was planned in the 1990s. This time the entire M5 to Honiton stretch would be dualled as one scheme and a permanent junction at Iron Bridge would be provided. This opened in 1999.
