Kearsley Interchange forms the southern end of the Saint Peter's Way section of the A666 in Bolton. To the south, the road becomes the A666(M) linking into the Worsley Braided Interchange and hence M60. Above the mainline, the A666 rejoins its original route towards Salford via Swinton and Pendlebury. Between 1967 and 1970, this junction was a temporary terminus awaiting the completion of the motorway.
This exit forms the main access for Farnworth from the south meaning congestion is extremely severe on the northbound exit slip road at peak times.
