This article is about the motorway in Ireland. For a similarly numbered (proposed) motorway in England, see M17 (Leicestershire).

The M17 is a motorway running from the Rathmorrissy Interchange on the M6 (where it takes over from the M18) to the town of Tuam, from where the road continues as the dual-carriageway N17. It allows Atlantic Corridor traffic from Limerick to Sligo to bypass Galway completely, and provides easier access from the mid-west to the M6 towards Athlone and Dublin. It also helps to relieve the former N17 route (now the N83) from Galway to Tuam via Baile Chláir (Claregalway).
The road was financed by a Private Partner Initiative scheme approved in April 2014, and building commenced on 9 May in that year. It was opened to the public on 27 September 2017 together with the M18 and the Tuam Bypass.
