Margate is a town on the North Sea coast of the Isle of Thanet (which isn't quite an island). It was once a significant seaside resort, and remains popular for day-trippers.
The A28 starts in the best-known part of Margate, by the clock tower on the seafront at a triple point with the A254 to Ramsgate and the B2051 along the north east Thanet coast.
