Morpeth is a town in Northumberland. It is currently the first place north of the A406 in North London where the A1 becomes single carriageway, although there have been on / off plans to dual this.
The Morpeth Northern Bypass is due to open in Spring 2017. Upon completion it will carry the A197 number and run between Whorral Bank Roundabout and the A1 at a new junction. The old A197 into Morpeth will be renumbered as B1337. The new bypass will also see the closure of Fair Moor Interchange.
