Ouse Bridge carries the B5291 over the River Derwent at the outlet of Bassenthwaite Lake. Built in the early 19th Century, the structure is an arch bridge consisting of two arches. The carriageway over the bridge is S1, although there are no traffic signals. With poor sightlines on both approaches, it's pretty much potluck as to whether you'll make it over without having to reverse.
Ouse Bridge has been affected by flooding twice, in 2009 and 2015. In 2009, the structure was damaged, causing it to be closed for 4 months while repair works were carried out, reopening in March 2010. It was closed once again in December 2015, reopening again in January 2016.
