The R527 consists chiefly of parts of the former routes of the N18 and the N24 in Limerick City. It runs from the R445 at Coonagh Roundabout in the west to the city centre via Clonmacken, Condell Road, and the Shannon Bridge, then out again via Newtownmahon to Ballysimon and junction 29 of the M7 in the east.
