The junction at Ravenstruther is a TOTSO T junction between the A70 and the A743 between Lanark ad Carstairs. It lies a little to the east of the main group of houses, which stand alongside the A743, although there are also scattered properties along the A70. The A70 comes up from the south as Ayr Road and then turns east onto Lanark Road, which is the mainline through the junction, having come from Lanark as the A743. The junction is just one of a series of four TOTSO junctions on the A70 in a distance of under five miles. For a couple of years after classification in 1922 the A743 was numbered as the B715, but it was upgraded to be an A road in 1924 or 25.
