Reiss Junction is where the B876 and the A99 split, with the latter being a TOTSO as the B876 traffic north takes priority for traffic leaving Wick. Lying just to the north west of the town, the junction is actually a crossroads, with a minor road opposite the northern arm of the A99. The surrounding landscape is the vast flatlands of Caithness, stretching north to the far north coast around John O Groats.
