The junction of Riverside Drive A85 and the South Marketgait or Inner Ring Road A991 in Dundee City. The junction was created on 10 May 2012 as part of the Dundee Waterfront development
History
This junction replaces Riverside Roundabout.
This was a four arm signalised roundabout, but only three arms were controlled by signals; the fourth arm (Earl Grey Place) which provided access to the Hilton and Olympia was a normal roundabout give way. Until March 2012 there was a fifth in-bound only arm from Whitehall Crescent but this was closed as part of the Dundee Waterfront development and subsequent change to a simple three-arm signal junction. Further changes have taken place in early 2012 with the addition of pedestrian crossings on the eastern arm of the South Marketgait A991 following the removal of the pedestrian bridges slightly further east. The northern section of the circulatory carriageway has also been widened.
The roundabout was adjacent to Dundee Railway Station and the railway passed directly underneath the roundabout with a hole in the tunnel coming up in the roundabout.
