Sandiacre Interchange
Sandiacre Interchange is junction 25 of the M1. It was was fully open in 1966.
The three-level intersection was designed by Sir Owen Williams and Partners, the motorway consultants, and was one of the first of its type in Britain.
It consists of a 370 foot long tied cantilever reinforced concrete bridge on reinforced concrete "V" supports which carries the A52 Stapleford and Sandiacre Bypass dual carriageway over the M1 motorway, two smaller identical bridges of conventional motorway design which carry the A52 over the roundabout, and two twin span bridges carrying the roundabout over the motorway.
It was constructed with the A52 Stapleford and Sandiacre Bypass which opened on 21 December 1964. The M1 from the south opened on 25 May 1966 and to the north on 25 August 1966.
