Thorpe Interchange is junction 2 of the M3 and junction 12 of the M25. It opened in December 1976 with the M25 to the north (the M3 opening in July 1974). The whole junction was built, though only the North-West slips were open until the M25 to the south opened in October 1980.
The southwestbound M3 narrows down to one lane through the junction due to the lack of through traffic. The M25 narrows to D3, which causes issues on the anti-clockwise carriageway due to the double lane drop.
