The Weymouth Relief Road is a bypass opened in 2011 that replaces a hairpin bend and bypasses the village of Upwey on the A354 access into the south coast town of Weymouth.
Opening
The 4.3 mile road from Ridgeway on the Dorchester Road to Manor Roundabout, Radipole opened on 17 March 2011 in time to ease traffic for the 2012 Olympic sailing events from the town. The “official opening” was on 10 December 2010 by Princess Anne, but the road was not then fully completed.
Contractor
Contractor was Skanska, cost £89.3 million.
