The Article Rating system was set up to replace Article of the Month, which was used in the early days of the SABRE Wiki. A {{Rating}} template has been set up which will allow a rating from 1-5 to be given to each article.

Usage

{{Rating}} should be found at the bottom of most articles. It takes a single parameter, which should be a number between 1 and 5, if left blank it will default to 0 (unrated). For example, {{Rating|3}} will rate an article as 3 stars.

Articles are categorised by their rating, and a small selection of the best articles are featured on the front page at random.

You may rate an article that you have worked heavily up any rating between 1 and 4 as appropriate, but 5 star ratings should only be given out by someone who has not worked heavily on the article. Any member of SABRE is allowed to rate appropriately.

Be aware that length alone is not a measure of quality. Some historic roads that were upgraded in the early days of classification may have only lasted for a few years in the 1920s, and so the highest quality article will be relatively short, but it may still be deserving of a high star rating.

See: Category:Unrated articles

  • The article has not yet been rated. Articles with zero stars (or unrated items) may be of any quality between 1 and 5 stars.

  • Any article that doesn't meet the criteria for a higher rating.

2 star Star.pngStar.pngStar grey.pngStar grey.pngStar grey.png

See: Category:2 star articles

  • The article has at least some basic information on the subject, for example a route description. This basic information should be a paragraph or two. Articles with only a single sentence should be rated as 1 star article.
  • The article uses all applicable templates, is categorised, and linked to from other articles.

3 star Star.pngStar.pngStar.pngStar grey.pngStar grey.png

See: Category:3 star articles

  • The article begins to delve deeper into the subject, perhaps by introducing a history section or details of construction. It includes at least one picture if appropriate.
  • The article should use full sentences of well-written prose. For an article to gain a three-star rating, it must use all applicable templates, be categorised, and have links to/from other articles (including a Dab Box at the top if appropriate). Articles dealing with historical roads may well be relatively short. They should, nevertheless, show when the road was first classified, when any subsequent changes in classification took place, and what the current status of the road is.

5 star Star.pngStar.pngStar.pngStar.pngStar.png

See: Category:5 star articles

  • The article is very well written and easy to read
  • The layout of the article is aesthetically pleasing
  • The article is comprehensive, covering all major details of the subject in hand.
  • The article is adequately illustrated with pictures and diagrams as appropriate.
  • The article is illustrated with one or more relevant SABRE Maps extracts, showing relevant changes where available.
  • Five stars shouldn't be awarded to one's own work
