Wincanton Junction is an exit on the A303.
The A371 north of here, towards Hawker's Bridge is the original line of the A303. The trumpet was built as part of the 1980s Wincanton Bypass.
To keep costs down, the interchange itself was built as a single carriageway, but the junction with the old A303 was built as a dual carriageway. That T Junction was turned into a roundabout in the 1980s, to provide access to Wincanton Business Park.
