Traffic management plan for Chybucca here

Essentially the northern side of the junction will be built first, with the A30 using the new e/b off-slip and tieing in to the new carriageway to Chiverton as it gets completed - looks like it will be the first section of the route to be opened.
Thanks for the link, very interesting.
Looks like what I saw being worked on to the west of the B3284 at Chybucca is the temporary carriageway.
And also another temporary section to the north whilst the new roundabout is constructed.
I would say they are well in to phase 1 at the moment.

Costain, on behalf of National Highways, are working on the A30 Chiverton to Carland Cross road improvement scheme and will be temporarily closing the B3284 south of Chybucca, for site works to take place.

The B3284 south will close temporarily for all through traffic, from the A30 at Chybucca to the Alett Common junction, except for residents, for three nights from Monday the 13 December at 8:00pm (20:00hrs) to Wednesday the 15 December 2021 at 6:00am (06:00hrs). It will reopen on Thursday the 16 December at 6:00am(06:00hrs). On Wednesday the 15 December, the closure will commence one hour later at 2100hrs (9pm) to 6:00am (06:00hrs) due to late night shopping in Truro.

I suspect this might be to tie in the temporary alignment so they can get on & work on the southern roundabout, one of my work colleagues drove past there the other day and said the temporary road had been tarmacked.

Just found this. You can see they are now using a temporary diversion, at Chybacca, presumably to build the Southern roundabout.

Not sure what else to say about the video. Hummm...

Not exactly great camera work !
Not been that way for a while so interesting to see.
I would agree that it is to build the embankment for the southern roundabout, there will be another temporary alignment to the north, once both roundabouts and the bridge are complete I think the next phase is to divert traffic onto the new junction to allow the new D2 to be built, I'll have to have another look at the traffic management plans.

I think it’s fair to say the cameraman won’t be getting hired by ITV News any time soon, and why did it sound like it’s been dubbed with rush hour at Waterloo?

Well, certainly not the best video, but even a poor video, is better than nothing.

I can't see any sign yet of building another temporary alignment to the North for the A30 traffic. Perhaps they just haven't done it yet, or perhaps they plan to do something else. I found that on an A21 scheme nearer me, they didn't do traffic management exactly as the plans on the web suggested. I presume they can decide to do something else if it becomes more convenient at the time.

Perhaps somebody turned up with a boombox, and started playing strange things while he was filming ;).

Another video where I probably shouldn't comment on the filming or presentation. ;)

A bit that interests me near the start (about 40 seconds), is a small cell phone tower that is going to be relocated to make way for the new D2.

One part he got wrong was (12:42) when he pointed the camera at Trevalso Cottage, and talked about demolition. Errr... The plans show that cottage is outside the boundary of the works, so I'm pretty sure they aren't going to demolish it.

Phase 2 included diverting traffic onto both temporary alignments, plus stopping up the right hand turn on to the A30 eastbound from Chybucca, but it did say that they were going to carry out a survey to see how many cars turned onto the A30 eastbound, maybe due to the results of that survey they have decided to change the plans.
Possibly the southern roundabout is going to be completed before thay start work on the northern roundabout once the bridge is nearer completion, might make sense to do it that way, less disruption to traffic.

I can't really see how that would make sense. Without the Northern Roundabout, the Southern roundabout wouldn't be connected to anything. So why would doing just the southern one be any advantage.

Perhaps if the bridge needs more time anyway, it's simply not worth the extra resources of building both diversion routes at the same time. They might as well do them one after the other, while the bridge is being built. I expect whatever they are doing, it will become more clear later in the year.

I meant they may do the southern roundabout & open it to B3284 traffic, & remove the temp alignment, but like you say hopefully things will become clearer as the work progresses.

OK. They could do that. I think it would basically depend on when they end up scheduling jobs.

I was thinking more in terms of traffic management. Plus I didn't really understand why you mentioned the right turn from the B3284 to the A30.

It was on the traffic management map for Chybucca phase 2 "Stop up right hand turn from B3284 onto A30 East"
What they were saying is that right turns from the B3284 south would need to be stopped due to the northern temporary alignment, but a link for B3284 through traffic would be created via a new temporary link.
