I may have missed this, but is there any detail on what "M1 Leeds Eastern Gateway" involves? Is this works at J44?

I know the A303 upgrades will benefit the West Country, but actually in the SW the only scheme is a safety package on 6 miles of the A38. Levelling up? I don't think so.
All of the A303 / A358 RIS 3 schemes are in the SW region of England :

The report gives no information about the pipeline schemes beyond what was in the RIS2 document. It's the same 32 schemes.

The OP lists only 30 schemes as it excludes the already delivered A21 scheme, and has merged the M6 Junction 22 and Manchester South East Junction improvements schemes through copy-paste error.

So what does A303 Phase 2 actually mean? What does it actually involve?

No, it's another iteration of the Austhorpe shambles - someone's realised that although they've given planning permission to build the ELOR and a massive amount of new housing, the junction still isn't going to cope.

It's mentioned in more detail here where it talks about upgrading the links from the M1 to support the new road and houses:
https://transportforthenorth.com/wp-con ... stment.pdf
https://web.archive.org/web/20210128102 ... stment.pdf

Perhaps this will be as simple as new south facing sliproads directly to the M1 dumbbell. It's a struggle to see what else could be done without un-doing a lot of the MLLR works - certainly I wouldn't have been in a rush to buy one of the new houses next to the Springs....

Does anyone know what the A19 plans are, it's just something that's popped out of nowhere recently. Be interesting if it is grade separation what the plans for Moor Farm are as just doing A19 to A19 won't fix much as a lot of the traffic goes A19 to A189 in both directions on the A19 (Most A19 to A19 traffic will likely have cut the corner along the A1056 or used the Tunnel). Seaton Burn is also awfully close to the A1 unless it's only A1(S) to A19 being grade separated, there's already lights dealing with the merge.

Seaton Burn was in the programme about 10-15 years ago but I never managed to discover what layout was proposed, or which movements would have been free-flow. I forget whether Moor Farm was in too.

Yeah I believe Moor Farm was too actually, don't think they really got anywhere at the time though instead going for traffic light 'improvements' with Silverlink. Be interesting to see how much money they wasted over the years on them. Moor Farm being done twice in the last 10 years and Silverlink in 2012'ish before being finally done properly a few years later.

For the vast majority of these schemes we have contract info, which gives a good idea of scheme prioritisation and scale:

Contract Title / Contract Start / Value Of New Contract
A1 Doncaster to Darrington Jan-24 £1,159,000,000
A5 Hinkley to Tamworth Jan-25 £724,000,000
A120 Braintree to A12 A120 Braintree (D&B) 31/03/2023 £513,000,000
Tilbury Port Access Jan-25 £443,000,000
A27 Chichester Jan-25 £443,000,000
M1/M62 Lofthouse Junction Jan-23 £435,000,000
A2 Dover Access Jan-23 £427,000,000
A12/A14 Copdock Interchange Jan-22 £293,000,000
A64 Hopgrove Jan-25 £250,000,000
M1 Leicester Western Access Jan-22 £234,000,000
A27 Lewes to Polegate Jan-25 £227,000,000
A19 Junctions North of Newcastle Jan-25 £200,000,000
A2 Brenley Corner Jan-23 £127,000,000
M1 Leeds Eastern Gateway Jan-25 £115,000,000
A404 Bisham Junction Jan-25 £100,000,000
A483 Pant-Llanymynech Jan-25 £93,000,000
A404/M40 Junction 4 High Wycombe Jan-25 £89,000,000
M6 Junction 22 Jan-25 £86,000,000
M60 South East Junctions Improvements Jan-25 £83,000,000
A11 Fiveways Junction Jan-25 £73,000,000
A38 Trerulefoot to Carkeel Safety Package Jan-22 £64,000,000
M6 Junction 15 Potteries Southern Access Jan-25 £48,000,000
Severn Resilience Package Jan-22 £41,000,000
A47/A1101 Elm Road Junction Jan-25 £34,000,000
M27 Southampton Access Jan-21 £34,000,000
M11 Junction 13 Cambridge West Jan-25 £31,000,000
A3/A247 Ripley South Jan-25 £20,000,000

I think the only pipeline schemes missing are A303 Phase 2 and the three 'capacity enhancements' on the M1 and M6. The former is a placeholder, and could be quite small or very large, depending on how many of the half dozen or so remaining A303 improvements are included. The latter are presumably pending a political decision about smart motorways.

A strange one is the A19 New Tees Crossing, which HE are looking to procure at £396,000,000 when it isn't even a pipeline scheme, technically speaking.

So looking at the list Doncaster to Darrington A1 is £1.1 billion surely that’s going to be a complete new offline route to the M18? It’s only slightly less that the whole A14 upgrade......

Well the new A14 was 21 miles long. Darrington to the M18 is 16 miles so that's a reasonable assumption.

Believe it's been lead by the TVCA rather than HE so guessing it won't be part of it budget wise.

Will all of these actually ever happen? The Green/eco friendly tide is turning against new or major road upgrades. Wales seems to have set the ball rolling, others may follow over the next few years.

Oh, that thing. Yes. Thank you.

I agree with everything you said about it - I don’t know what they’re going to do but it won’t be spectacular.

What does the Leicester Western Access Scheme consist off?

In an ideal world 21 would be a completer free flow, 21 a would be upgraded too full access and a new junction at Cosby would be built…

I’m sure it’s much less ambitious

I'll admit I don't daily drive it, but I'm not convinced there's a massive pressing need for "M1 North Leicestershire extra capacity". Northbound J23 to J24a can get a bit gnarly at peak times but most of the time that's as a result of accidents/breakdowns, without them it doesn't appear (anecdotally at least) to be a regular bottleneck, especially compared to other locations on the network. There are plenty of other situations in the Midlands that I think should be usurping this.
I used to drive it daily 2015-2018, yes there is definitely a need. Don't forget that J21 to J28 was originally one large scheme in 2006, being split down into smaller schemes with J25-28 being widened first.

With the majority of M1 now widened to 4 lanes or more, J21-23a will become more of a bottleneck due to the lower capacity than adjacent sections.

This rough arrangement would likely be decent, but expensive for 21-21a
This also includes an extension of the A5460 which could link to the A47 for development

One of the mid-00s designs included C/D lanes like that. See the relevant thread:
