Sigh. It's pretty embarrassing isn't it. Inept? Get a job doing signs... anything goes there.

I can't actually work out what is really intended there. Usually even if the wrong sign is used, the intended meaning is at least guessable (as with Chris's bridge). But here I'm struggling to understand what hazard is being highlighted.

The signs to me suggest a two-way flow of traffic including HGVs is crossing the road

But umm ... where?

It looks like the sort of situation where a /!\ sign with a plate would do better.

I had a few beers at this bar last night. During the course of the evening, I noticed that all of the signage on the buildings lining the street - "BAR", "HOTEL", etc - were all facing against the flow of traffic. I assume that the road used to be one-way in the opposite direction, and that the local authority changed that direction without doing anything to help the various business proprietors change their frontages accordingly! The result is that if you drive up it, the whole street looks 'backwards'.

What's going on here? Why is "A38" in brackets when the road is, in fact, the A38?

More strange brackets. It's just another destination town.

Some number-related silliness at the north end of Sheffield.

Approaching Tinsley roundabout from the north, the fourth exit, onto Shepcote Lane, is signposted as A6102 (the Sheffield ring road), with no reference to the fact it leads to the ring road.

The flag sign at the exit also refers to Shepcote Lane as A6102, with no brackets, even though it's nearly a mile and a half from the ring road.

Then, as you get nearer the ring road, the number on the signs changes to A631. And indeed, coming the other way, it's consistently signposted as A631.

Just to make matters more confusing, an earlier sign on the ring road calls it A630, most likely a typo as A630 is the eastern end of the Parkway, and the exit for the Parkway is a mile behind northbound drivers at this point.

The guilty party is Network Rail as several of these unlawful obstructions are present in Sheffield and I believe Wakefield as well.

I've no idea how many times I've driven past this without noticing - until now - the comma is in the wrong place (would make sense after "A650", but not after "Keighley")

Not sure if this has been mentioned in the past 390 odd pages, but this sharp deviation sign is surely wrong

I know it is meant for traffic coming down hill into Boscastle, but it is ripe for misinterpretation going up hill

Since when did direction signs merit yellow backgrounds?

Kirklees love yellow backgrounds unfortunately. They don't merit them and the TSM advises specifically against their use.

Good advice - please slow down whilst dismounting to comply with the cycling prohibition
