On the basis that this sliproad is the A carriageway and this sliproad is labelled the B carriageway - I would happily put a bet on the roundabout being part of the M60.

Re: University Challenge Roads Questions
No. David James thought it must be real. I think his quote was something like "I don't want my money spent on all those fake signs, so it must be real". Richard's response after that was along the lines of "the emergency services do need to train on a realistic road."IAN wrote: ↑Mon Nov 23, 2020 21:14Was the question answered correctly?the cheesecake man wrote: ↑Mon Nov 23, 2020 19:27 From tonight's House of Games

Re: University Challenge Roads Questions
Legally, the M96 is indeed a fake motorway unless there exists a TRO applying motorway regulations to it
Re: University Challenge Roads Questions
Its only a fake if someone claims its a real motorway rather than a place to do training, the shipping and aviation industry use simulators but that doesn't make them fake ships and fake aircraft.

An interesting question on The Wheel that had me thinking?
Which of these road signs is the only one in which the character faces left?
Which of these road signs is the only one in which the character faces left?
- School crossing patrol
- Frail pedestrians
- Road works
- Cattle
Re: University Challenge Roads Questions
If they mean 'the only one' out of all road signs then Page 17 of this document shows some additional examples.

Re: University Challenge Roads Questions
If you look at the warning signs, those that warn road users of what might be more likely to be in or crossing the road in front of them have their figures facing to the right, as if to emphasise that they may be crossing from your left right in front of you.

Celebrity Who Wants To Be A Millionaire last night. Longest UK motorway. M1 M4 M5 M6.
The celebrity used the 'ask the host' lifeline, and Clarkson got it wrong.

Re: University Challenge Roads Questions
I got it right after realising that the M1 couldn't be any more than c. 200 miles long, and that the M6 goes from the Midlands all the way to beyond Carlisle, which is a long way. JC even worked out that the M1 was around 200 miles long but in the end said he thought it was 230 miles long! Not his finest hour.

It makes a change from idiots ignoring Jeremy when struggling with a car question then asking him about (eg) opera which I've seen happen 2 or 3 times.

An intriguing one from last night's House of Games
How many motorway service stations are there in England?
The contestants guessed 78,68,72,30

Great question! Without looking anything up or watching the episode, I'd have guessed around 80.the cheesecake man wrote: ↑Tue Mar 09, 2021 17:24 An intriguing one from last night's House of Games

Re: University Challenge Roads Questions
Depends how “motorway services” is defined. I reckon for a mainline MSA it’s about half of that.
