"It's the first triple-decker roundabout in the north" according to Tynemouth MP Sir Alan Campbell. I can think of four just on the M62.
That said, I believe it's the first full access interchange with two freeflowing mainlines to have opened in England since the Chieveley improvement in 2004. There are at least a couple more hot on its heels with the Black Cat and M2 J5 schemes, which is as good a sign as any of the increased ambition in recent years.

Admittedly it's not usual to have such a junction outside of the motorway network.

A45/A46/A444 Festival Island, Coventry. But yes, they are rare.

The A38/A50 Toyota Island southwest of Derby?
That too. And A19/A66 is completely freeflow, before KeithW points it out!

As is the Redditch cloverleaf.
Aha! Gabalfa junction A48/A470 is a three-level stacked roundabout as well, with A469 intruding in a non-free flow capacity.

Yebbut according to the good burghers of Tyne & Wear, Yorkshire doesn't count as "the north"

I don't think there are any such junctions in Scotland away from the motorway network on three different levels, unless we were to significantly loosen the criteria. But certainly no pairs of non motorway D2s being spanned by a roundabout to allow access between them.

Regarding the specific combination of a roundabout and three levels, that's right.
But there is the surviving cloverleaf in Livingston, which is full access freeflow. An honourable mention for this beauty, which is a couple of movements away from full access: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@55.873355,-4.3280863,17z
Used the Silverlink Roundabout twice today. It's still 30 mph with speed cameras and lane closures on the A1058, but using the A19 from the Howdon roundabout to the A1056, it's a vast improvement on the old and congested roundabout and the traffic was flowing freely, considering the A19 was busy with holiday traffic.
Went through at the weekend (long time open I know!). But it's all 50mph now and looks really impressive.
This change coupled with ANPR at the Tyne Tunnel making that that bit easier, means this route is now going to be our main way to get to the likes of Tynemouth, but also anything along the A189 e.g. up the Northumberland coast.

Glad you liked it as this is an impressive looking junction. Also to the east, the Norham Rd junction and Billy Mill junction( ex roundabout) are a big improvement on before.
To those of us of a certain age, the Silverlink Roundabout also had the unofficial name of the Europa Lodge Roundabout, as this was the name of the motel in the seventies. Also the old junction makes an appearance in the Likely Lads film, as Terry Collier lives in a block of flats overlooking it.
Speaking to my parents (still North Tyneside residents) it looks like the A1058 50mph limit from the Churchill St junction to east of the Norham road junction (where the 40mph limit starts) comes in soon. This leaves only the 2-3 miles from Churchill St to the ECML bridge as a derestricted section. The permanent 50mph signs are up, presumably for when the temporary 30mph roadworks limit ends.

It's amazing how different that section of the A19 is from a decade ago. The ANPR instead of the toll booths will be the icing on the cake.
