A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon "news"

Worse is that the sat nav in my wife's car loses the location while driving on the new road, and then takes some considerable time to find it again afterwards, so it still has you driving through fields by Peterborough - which is sort of unhelpful.

Yeah, but there's no update yet - it's a manufacturers one so updates are usually every 18 months or so...

What a nuisance, they really should treat people better than that! Its always about money though! Perhaps use Google maps on a smart phone for the time being?

In my experience the satnav's supplied built in by car manufacturers are the worst for that. My Ford hasnt had an update in over 2 years, they want £167 to supply updated maps, no thanks I will carry on using Google Maps or Waze which I can use on the same screen their system uses.

Apple Carplay was high on the 'want' list for me last time I changed cars, both my previous and current cars have built-in satnav but it was nowhere near as good as Google Maps, Apple Maps or Waze.

Not sure what maps you are downloading but for reference the latest are F9. Officially I can get F8 I believe

My focus 2017 has F9 now but only by upgrading to Sync 3.4 (my2020) blue theme.

Even some new focus’ don’t have F9 available due to some screw up at Ford.

Version 8 and it eventually downloaded. I checked for an update from 3.3 and it said I had the latest available as did the Ford web site.

Yeah basically 3.4 got leaked somehow (well the files are all available from Ford servers oddly but someone found them)... it’s not an official release though.

Up to you whether you want to take the risk - I did and it’s fine but I waited til it was out of warranty!

The ‘Variable Speed Limit’ signs are up on the new sections of the A1 and two ‘Restrictions Ahead’ signs have appeared, permanently fitted, northbound just north of Buckden, diverting restricted traffic onto the B1514 to Brampton. Still no gantry signs on A1(M) southbound at Alconbury as yet, looks a bit odd...

Don’t quite know what the issue is but someone does need to get a move on and put these gantries up. The scheme was finished in Dec for that section, we should not be in summer still waiting for them to go up.

Also why doesn’t the A1 Southbound have RCS after the turn off for the A1307? Small things I know but it does point to slack points in the delivery of the scheme.

But the scheme wasn’t finished there in December, it won’t be finished until the Viaduct removal and associated works are finished, and the A1307 links into the local Huntingdon roads.

Plus until that work is done then any A1307 sign on the gantry isn't going to be accurate; you'd currently have to use the B1044 through Huntingdon, over a weak bridge if going to villages beyond, e.g. Godmanchester.
