Didn't developers build one on the A516 south of Derby which had something like 2 dozen vehicles crash over it in the first 24 hours of opening?
I can sort of understand a loss of control on the tiny cack developer roundabouts where someone has at least turned left and binned it. I have absolutely no sympathy for any cretin who fails to even notice the roundabout exists in the first place and drives through all the signs.
The same problems happened on the A683 when that opened to the north of Lancaster. Still, people insist we don't need stricter driving standards so nothing will change.

In addition to the weirdness already set out, I noticed that having gone to the trouble of changing all the directions signs they seem to have overlooked the RCS, which still has M181 (M180) not A1077(M) (M181 (M180)).
Having complained to HE I received a reply which now says the road is a NL council road. Which is not what NL council tell me, nor what HE told me when I most recently complained..... text posted below:-
"Further to your recent contact with Highways England regarding the A1077(M) – formerly the M181.
Part of the M181 was recently removed from the strategic road network of England and transferred from the authority of Highways England to the North Lincolnshire Council and re-designated the A1077(M) following the completion of the installation of a roundabout at Brumby Common for the Lincolnshire Lakes development.
Although this has halved the length of the M181 it still exists between the new roundabout and the M180. Our Traffic England website mapping will be amended in due course although I cannot give you a timescale at this time. Mapping updates for the traffic management and monitoring systems that feed in to our Traffic England website are not a straightforward task but we do a mapping update every few months. I note that other online mapping tools have yet to amend the number for the affected section of road.
Highways England continue to manage the above mentioned southern section (which also remains numbered as the M181) between the M180 and the new roundabout and this section also remains part of the strategic road network of England.
The section referred to currently on road signs as the A1077(M) remains a motorway at this time as there are currently no exits at the new roundabout the public can use so there’s no way for non-motorway traffic to exit and avoid joining the M181 and then on to the M180. Once the roundabout has exits the public can use to get to the Lincolnshire Lanes development then the A1077(M) will be re-numbered again to become simply the A1077. North Lincolnshire Council will change the blue motorway signs to the legally required green ones for A roads.

This is rare.
THEY'RE DOING IT PROPERLY!!!!!!
Though roads may not put a smile on everyone's face, there is one road that always will: the road to home.

Not quite, because the A1077 is non primary so shouldn't have any green signs planned for it.

Given that the A18 is primary coming out of Scunthorpe to what was the terminus of the M181, it would be sensible for the newly reclassified section of A1077 to likewise be primary in order to give a continuous motorway/primary route and not have the primary route terminating in the town centre or at that roundabout with no green/blue continuation.

The A18 is primary into Scunthorpe from the end of the M181/A1077(M) so, yes, it would be primary. Unless the A159 gets diverted to one of the new roundabouts...

Oh yes, I always forget that west side of the A18 in Scunthorpe is primary. Well, colour me shocked then.

Someone has now flattened the chevron signs heading south. There is even a wheel with tyre left on the grass so I am sure they didn't manage to just drive off......

The inability of drivers to adapt to road conditions never ceases to amaze.

North Lincs Council are having to remind people that the A1077(M) is a motorway due to cyclists going along it..

Perhaps if there were some correctly designed signs at the start of it, the two-wheeled community would be less confused. Or is that too easy a solution?
Patience is not a virtue - it's a concept invented by the dozy beggars who are unable to think quickly enough.
I thought the might have called the section between the new roundabout and the A18/A1077 roundabout the A181. But having looked at Google maps I see there is already an A181.

Does seem a shame it’s been split in half.
What would be the point of introducing a new number for a road less than 1 mile long, which finishes end-on with an existing road whose number could (and will) be easily extended to cover the newly demotorwayified bit of road?

I just somehow noticed a change...
As the northern end is now the A1077(M), Google Maps doesn't show it as a motorway, but Openstreetmap does.
Looks as if the A1077 has taken over the M181 including the new roundabout.
But on Open Street Map - the M181 and A1077(M) are shown as motorways.
Is this "A1077 not shown as a motorway so is the M181 which is taken over by A1077" an error on Google Maps?
From what I can see on Google Maps, the Northern Half is named A1077 and the southern half has lost all name/number entirely. However both sections and the roundabout are still showing as motorways.
You can see that Google are showing both still as motorways as their appear when you zoom out far enough the same as other motorways.
But yeah Google is wrong like always. OSM is always going to be more correct since there are a handful of Sabristi contributing to it.
