This one in the centre of my home town Bourne has its own set of traffic lights (the heavily shuttered ones) as most of the buses using it aren't continuing down Abbey rd but are one exit further across to the right to go down South Street. The lights are there to prevent the bus driver turning across oncoming traffic out of Abbey Road.

In my humble experience stopping on a roundabout (except at traffic lights) always feels dangerous. Changing lanes, which many drivers will do when a bus stops here, is even more dangerous.
Is it any different if the gyratory has a bus lay-by, as here?

(There's no lay-by for buses heading east - there isn't even a pavement.)
That's much better:
  • No one needs to change lanes or stop
  • The roundabout is so elongated it doesn't feel like one
  • Owler Bar has much less traffic than Stag
  • It's not in South Yorkshire so there might have been some competence involved in installing it

Although it's a signal controlled crossing, this one in Ramsgate can be hairy at times, especially as the timings of the signals are set so people end up making a run for it.

One Zig and Zag seems to be the minimum, like this which is sited right next to a mini roundabout, which to be fair should slow traffic coming from around the bend.

This one here;

Anything but a minibus stopping at that the back end will block the crossing.

Not the worst, it's part of Belfast's flagship public transport (arguably a bendy bus) Glider system

Further on they couldn't decide whether to draw zig zags or bus stop, so you get both
