Oh the two mini roundabouts and the junction of Halt lane (B3285) and the A3075 in Goonhaven are going to be fun this weekend then.

Does anyone know if there'll be temporary lights erected at the A3075/B3285 junction, which would hopefully ease the chaos caused by turning traffic if the phasing is set correctly?

Another recent video. I think this is from the cab of a lorry. Going Eastbound From Chiverton to Carland.

Things I noticed from my 1st viewing.
The temporary roundabout at Chybucca looks almost complete.
On the Zelah bypass, on the right, just after the bridge. Is a very big long object. I think this is a bridge beam, to be craned into place at a later date.

I assume they've got this wrong, or they just didn't explain it very well. They say the Chiverton Cross roundabout is being closed completely for days. Perhaps they are being deliberately misleading, to try and sell the story more.

Chiverton roundabout itself is not going to be closed only the A30 between there and Boxheater, Cornwall Live often get stuff wrong and exaggerate for effect. I don't believe there will be any temporary traffic lights at the junction in Goonhavern but on previous busy days the traffic backing up from the roundabouts means there is often a slow moving queue back past the junction allowing A3075 traffic to let B3285 traffic out so don't think lights would help. The biggest queue in the summer is often from the roundabouts in Goonhavern back towards Chiverton along the A3075 and this can sometimes reach the Healeys Cyder Farm turning if lots of eastbound traffic attempts to avoid the A30 when busy. This queue doesn't normally move quickly either.

Yes, the roundabout is staying open. Cornwall Live always goes one step too far!

In regards to the diversion, it's not Goonhavern that's the problem, it's about a mile west where there is a very steep section with a tight turn at the bottom.

Those that don't know it and articulated lorries won't like it and that's where there traffic will struggle.

It's worth it though. Glad they are getting the roundabout open before summer season kicks in. Well played.

Is it a Retch Reach plc publication? If so, then it's par for the course.

This is mostly about the road closure, but interesting with some other stuff as well. It's just under 5 min, so worth a listen if you're interested.

A good picture of the Temporary Junction being created. If you don't have a Facebook account, then instead you can probably save the picture to your hard drive.

Road now reopened, let's hope that someone does a drive-through soon. Was congestion as bad as some had predicted? Every time I checked the National Highways site, Chiverton and Carland Cross roundabouts were highlighted in orange, i.e a typical day.

Has it been announced which weekend the road will be closed in September? I'll be travelling the route then.

I drove the new layout today and traffic did not seem bad at all, but might be a different story at rush hour.
And it is now a lot easier to turn off to the B3284 south towards Shortlanesend if you are travelling eastbound
Satellite image from yesterday clearly shows the new roundabout.

I doubt it. A long time ago, I subscribed to their Email List. They normally send major traffic alerts a few weeks before they happen. So they probably don't finally decide on the dates until a few weeks before actually doing it.

If you are not already subscribed, it may be a good idea to. I can't remember where it was, but I wouldn't think it would be hard to find.

Blimey. I have been checking quite a lot, but there hadn't been a clear image for a while now. I hadn't got around to checking today, and had assumed it would be too cloudy. Looks like there just happened to be a gap in the clouds at the right time in the right spot.

Thanks for that.

Nice picture, but I have doubts about the story. I expect there may be some teething problems while everybody is still getting used to the new layout. Plus the road was already overcrowded before!
