Roundabout with railway in the middle

Post by Glenn A »

Are there any other examples of a railway running through the middle of a roundabout, which was seen at Catterick Garrison until 1969, when the railway was closed and removed?

The roundabout in Brownhills A452/A4124/B4155 has the disused Worcester-Derby running through its centre - and that line is being considered for re-opening.

Park Square roundabout in Sheffield has tram lines running above it on bridges, and a T-junction in the middle where the lines towards Meadowhall and Manor Top/Gleadless diverge.

Hollinswood Interchange, Telford was built on top of the ex-GWR Wolverhampton - Shrewsbury line. It is grade separated from the railway rather than being at-grade with it though.

I bet there are a few misses on there, although the railway line running through the middle of a roundabout is unique.
Was in Catterick Garrison last year and no traces remain of the old railway.

The roundabout junction of the A47 and the A4040 at Bromford Bridge is built over the Birmingham to Tamworth/Leicester railway. The M6 goes over the top of that roundabout.

Cameron Toll, although its more of a gyratory.

From the SABRE Wiki: Cameron Toll :

Cameron Toll is a five-armed spiralised roundabout in the south of Edinburgh, linking the A7 to the A6095, and providing the eastern entrance to an eponymous shopping centre. The junction also lends its name to the surrounding area, with connections close by to the A701 and A772 roads as well. Sitting under a curve in the South Suburban Railway means the junction is crossed twice by Cameron Bridge, actually a pair of bridges with low (14'9") clearance. The nature of

Roundabout outside university of Sheffield (other side of the inner-ring-road, A61 and A57) has the tram going underneath it.

Woodhall Roundabout on the A8 in Port Glasgow is above the Inverclyde Line.

From the SABRE Wiki: Woodhall Roundabout :

The Woodhall Roundabout lies to the east of Port Glasgow on the Clyde coast and spans the twin tracks of the Inverclyde Line railway. It connects the dual carriageway A8 to its former route which lay inland of the railway line as far west as Newark Roundabout at Port Glasgow. The new line of the A8 runs along the shore, partially on reclaimed land and also on a causeway section to
