R242 "renamed" R2D2

Post by bothar »

A road in Co Donegal has been renamed the R2D2 in tribute to one of Star Wars’ most famous characters.
New signs were unveiled on what was the R242 near Malin Head to mark the location where scenes from the most recent instalment of the franchise, The Last Jedi, were filmed

Pity about the font, and the chevron is more like a UK one than an Irish one.

The best road to rename would have to be the R202 as the characters "0" and "D" look vaguely similar to one another, although unfortunately the location of the R202 is not nearly as relevant to Star Wars as the location of the R242!

At least actual signs weren't replaced for a stunt. That's a plus.

They could have put the R2D2 As Gaeilge and used italics.

Delta is the fourth letter of the Greek alphabet, so there is a certain logic.

Tempting to say "May the fourth be with you", but I won't. D'oh! I just did!! Sorry.
