Largest number on a sign

For populations on signs there is this one, I like the sticker where they are trying to keep it up to date.

National Highway 1 in Australia is around 14,500 km in length so there are some serious possibilities there. The Nullarbor section alone is 1650 km long, is pretty much dead straight and crosses 3 time zones. It has the worlds longest golf course (1,365 km) with holes at each town alsong the way.

I never did get to drive that road but I did drive the Stuart Highway from Darwin to Alice Springs with overnight stays at Katherine and Tennant Creek. I saw this sign just outside Darwin which only covers the 1500 km I drove.

This one is the longest I can think of in Australia at 3,434km - leaving Brisbane for Darwin!
It's a bit gimmicky as Darwin is shown on about 3 of these signs as you leave Brisbane and then never mentioned again until you are deep into the Northern Territory.

At the other end of the scale, I once saw the sign at the edge of Springfield in Fife. Someone had scrawled along the bottom
