Just thought I’d post this photo - which is from the Laing archives.
The Guardian caption wrongly states it's part of the Midland Links.
Kislingbury in 1960

Re: Kislingbury in 1960
Actually the caption in the archives says that.
Also, zooming in shows that the sign at the gore states A5 which is not the road at Kislingbury. That is the A45
I'm been searching up and down the Midland Link and it appears to be J12 of the M6 as that is where the A5 crosses.
The following StreetView image is from the overbridge just south of the junction and looks to match the layout of the slip-roads, the junction overbridge piers and the roundabout sign at the top of the slip road.

That is junction 12 M6 looking north, the trees to the left are the boundary for Gailey reservoir and the surface of the M6 in that area was originally concrete and I think it survived until early 2000's?
Re: Kislingbury in 1960
Yes it's M6 J12.
The concrete was still there until about 2006 or so. The contrast in surface noise when you came off the M6 Toll was astronomical.

The lack of traffic is obvious by seeing how only lane 1 in each direction is worn.
How would you like your grade separations, Sir?
