Which road do you most want to drive after the lock-down?
At the risk of thread proliferation, I thought it would be worth having something for this subject - after all we are supposed to be all about roads!
Which road do members most dream of driving or experiencing in some other way once the lock-down has ended?
The first one that comes to mind for me is the A696/A68 route that forms an alternative to the A1 between the North East and Edinburgh - wonderful driving country with sweeping bends and often it isn't too busy. Hopefully not too many other people will have the same idea once we are all let out again.
I'd get there by following my favourite B-roads up through Lincolnshire, East Yorks and North Yorks, taking in the Humber Bridge along the way.

Can't be fussed with any of this "driving" malarkey, but I would love to cycle NCN 78 (the Caledonian Way, Campbeltown-Inverness). Some lovely roads plus several new traffic-free sections beside the A828.

I won't be able to do it, because I'm rooted to the house as a carer these days, but I'd plan a trip north to the Lake District via the Peak District.
In the Peak District, I'd do the Cat & Fiddle, Snake Pass and Woodhead and then on the Lakes to do all the passes up there.

The first, realistic road that comes to mind is the B5105 between Ruthin and Cerrigydrudion which I'll get done over a weekend sometime. An excellent drivers road and certainly one quite high up the list to test out my new car... The Clocaenog Forest is also a nice place to stop off for a picnic on a bright day.
Another old favourite is the A685 between Tebay and Brough is also another route I crave at the moment. I was planning on that in July anyway, but those plans are in serious doubt with the current situation.

The journey is never over until the arrival.

The PENIS 287 but it's a bit far from Nottinghamshire

The A77. Partly because I am eager to go to Scotland (again), but specifically because it's the only Scottish F99 road that I haven't completed.
I added the A83 to my collection shortly before the lock-down was imposed.Richard_Fairhurst wrote: ↑Sat Mar 28, 2020 13:50 Can't be fussed with any of this "driving" malarkey, but I would love to cycle NCN 78 (the Caledonian Way, Campbeltown-Inverness). To be honest the unclassified roads from my village in any direction except towards the nearest supermarket.

Can't wait to get back on the M6 and get to see my fiancée and baby dog again. The J13-15 smart works have never seemed so attractive...

A complete circuit of the M25, for no reason whatsoever.

My Sister is relocating from Gloucester to Erskine/Paisley, so it looks like I'm going to be getting my first (team driven, I think) experience of the road trek from Cardiff to Scotland. I'm looking forward to the A74(M), which I think is something I may never say again after the first run.
Re: Which road do you most want to drive after the lock-down?
A circular route as follows
Starting at Stokesley North Yorkshire
B1257 through Chop Gate past Rievaulx Abbey to Helmsley
A170 east to Kirkby Mills.
Take the unclassified road north through Hutton Le Hole and along the Blakey Road to the Lion on Blakey Ridge and have lunch.
Carry on north through Castleton along Smeathorns Road to the sign for Commondale and then follow the unclassified roads through Kildale and Easby back to Stokesley
Its a cracking drive with great scenery, I would normally be doing this about now as the wild flowers are coming out. Its a road I drive at least twice a year and never tire of it,

None at all. I reckon the roads will be packed with everybody like me who just wants to get away for a few weeks.
Re: Which road do you most want to drive after the lock-down?
The A828 is pretty much traffic free most of the day anyway. Some of the sections are handy for cutting out hills and corners though; it's mostly there for Cycle To School.Richard_Fairhurst wrote: ↑Sat Mar 28, 2020 13:50 Can't be fussed with any of this "driving" malarkey, but I would love to cycle NCN 78 (the Caledonian Way, Campbeltown-Inverness). Anything that isn't the road to work (wherever that may prove to be over the coming weeks) or food supplies.

Funnily enough, the road to work is one of them.
For daughter M4 to Swansea.
A1 to visit mother and father in law.

For me there's two:
[*] I'd like to be complaining about the slowness of the A1/A1(M) around Doncaster. Everyone about, everything back to normal, driving down to family
[*] The B6270 up Swaledale, with a day's hiking planned. Bliss.

The one from my house to the pub. Sod driving, I'll walk.
