Junctions with weird priority rules

Post by Skipsy »

Some junctions have very strange rules when it comes to who has right of way, here are some strange ones that I know of:

Crossroads with 3 give way lines: https://www.google.com/maps/@51.4105276 ... 384!8i8192
Unneeded give way sign: https://www.google.com/maps/@51.4573004 ... 384!8i8192
A staggered crossroads without separate phases: https://www.google.com/maps/@51.421907, ... 384!8i8192
Another staggered crossroads, traffic turning right here gives way to the left: https://www.google.com/maps/@51.4540816 ... 384!8i8192

Share some of your ones, and I have seen a double stop on another thread but couldn't remember where it was.

The last one look reasonable, the car has priority over the scooter I think.

There's some near me where three of the four approaches to a junction have give way lines.

This one in a northwest suburb of Birmingham has two give ways on the roundabout.

Similar to your second example, however in this situation it is needed
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.01825 ... 312!8i6656 - surely a miniroundabout would fix this
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@50.98930 ... 312!8i6656 - The side road going across here actually has priority (sign facing the wrong way), on the approach it has signs for "give way 25 yds". Although the "road" going across is basically a path / driveway

My favourite one of these is the end of the A44 in Rhyader, with two Give Ways, a Stop line, and a clock tower that's just sort of in the way.

ARGH! Those right-turn arrows almost tell you to turn into the give-way exits.

Little Hadham, Herts is being discussed on another thread.

This one in the centre has a signal onto the lengthy S1 main road through there, immediately followed by Give Way markings

Yeah, Truvelo knows that, he's just gently fishing for a reaction, like a true Brummie!

Good one in Caversham, near Reading on this crossroads, which has two stop lines and two give way lines.
