Look at the way it weaves around parking spaces, through the door zone and into the driving lane, making it narrower than a car width!
This was repainted within the last 2 weeks, and has been on the road since at least 2008.
How on Earth can anyone have actually thought this was a good idea, and how has it been like this for 13+ years??!!
And with me watching a lot of youtube channel Not Just Bikes which showcases Dutch cycle infrastructure, its just embarrassing how bad this cycle infrastructure is.
I challenge anyone to find a worse piece of cycling infrastructure in the UK.

Okay. I don't know where to start. I'm not going to bother with all the "cycle lanes" which are just the hard strip next to a dual carriageway.

Most cyclists would carry out a normal right turn, only children and very scared people would use the crossing, these people are slow and therefor a shared space wouldn't be an issue.

I always think this is the most unnecessary cyclist sign - northbound on A46 Warwick Bypass. Any cyclist who somehow manages to make it this far (probably none) will have a much easier time after the next junction when its 3 lanes with narrow hard shoulder.

If you managed to cycle along a D3, I am fairly certain you will be able to get into the correct lane to continue on your way instead of going onto a shared path only to giveway to traffic you otherwise would of not of.

Just as bad in Gateshead together with hatching for the sake of hatching it seems. Another example of making streets “attractive” for sustainable travel by legally vandalising them. Not exactly placemaking.

It's an excellent website as you say. It says all you need to know about why cycle "facilities" often don't attract many cyclists. How about these for example? Approaching each pedestrian refuge, an inadequate cycle lane appears then stops just as abruptly afterwards. What does this achieve?

If you ignore that and continue to the roundabout, there's a shared-use path which you could take - but the signage says not to use it, and go round the roundabout instead.

You can use the cycle lane and you have to cross the traffic or well you can just use the roundabout and avoid it. Funnily there's contantly bikes using the road instead. They're littered all over the country aswell.

I don't know why for roundabouts like that we never build subways. The Dutch build them everywhere. So much of what is done for cycling provision could be so much better for not much more cost. Why the insistence on using paths split with a white line which virtually no pedestrians pay attention to? Would it really be that much more expensive to have an extra curb and a raised path for pedestrians?

Why would that be any more of an issue if the kerb splits a cycleway from a pedestrian path than a normal road/pavement? Kerbs are a pretty universal feature of streets... something like this is all that is needed

Bear in mind the cycle-only bit in that example is about as wide as a a typical shared-use path, so you're effectively needing to build an entire new pedestrian section alongside existing paths. Plus modify numerous junctions. All nice to have, but overkill for most locations where things work fine provided there's a bit of consideration on both sides.

But that is understandable when they are horrible urban ones with corners for neer do wells to hide in. Straight short ones where you can see through to the other side don't have the same issues
