isle on Man
Trip to the Isle of Man for work...
Waiting on clearance of the covid swabs then will be out working... But can see from initial impressions its a nice place, def very laid back... but those pesky motorcyclists...

Re: isle on Man
Have fun, and watch out for:
1) the only section of dual carriageway
2) the only section of S2+1
If I recall correctly, both on the A5!
Re: isle on Man
Also look out for the A37 which isn't connected to any other A-road as there's just a small part of it left following the closure of the Marine Drive in 1977 (I went along the whole length of it as a car passenger on a family holiday to the island in 1973).
Re: isle on Man
There's a D1 in Ramsey. I wouldn't really count the one by the Airport as a dual carriageway since it's only around the junction.

Re: isle on Man
OS Landranger shows the section between the Marine Drive junction and A25 as B52. Google maps seems to corroborate that. On the ground signage is unhelpful to judge by what Streetview shows.frediculous_biggs wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 10:11OSM shows it connected to the A25?

Re: isle on Man
My favourite Sabristic things on the IoM were single digit B roads (the B1 is in Laxey although IIRC sadly not signposted anywhere), and driving along the A2 through Douglas and happening upon the grandstand for the TT. I knew it was part of the route but the grandstand took me by surprise, the A2 goes from regular suburban A road to full on racetrack and back to regular suburban A road in a matter of a couple of hundred yards.

I like the weight limit sign just to the right - the digits are in Motorway instead of Transport. I wonder if it's the only appearance of Motorway on the IOM.

In all seriousness, it surprises me the IoM hasn't any dual roads of any significance given Jersey manages to have a large D2 AND a GSJ...

Re: isle on Man
We even lay claim to a section of D4+3. Though I think most people consider building the mini-expressway through the town centre a mistake, plus the Isle of Man has a lot more space and fewer people than Jersey. I have a perception that the Isle of Man is spread out into multiple self-contained towns, while Jersey is basically one big city - no matter where you live, you'll regularly travel to any part of the island (if you have a car).JosephA22 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 10, 2021 15:01D3 even!Bryn666 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 10, 2021 14:15Oooft, almost an urban motorway!jackal wrote: ↑Thu Jun 10, 2021 13:49
