7 Way Signalised Junction

Post by Skipsy »

Thought I would share this crazy 7 way signalised junction (not a roundabout or gyratory):
https://www.google.com/maps/@51.4386796 ... a=!3m1!1e3
https://www.google.com/maps/@51.4379076 ... 312!8i6656
Its essentially a crossroads, with a bus only road cutting diagonally through it, as well as a small unpaved lane which also has its own signal.
Could this be the traditional road junction (not a roundabout or gyratory) with the most arms to it?

I found a few sixes.
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.77393 ... 312!8i6656 - This has 6 arms all controlled by signals, 1 phase at a time & 2 of those arms are private accesses.

If you are including busways, then I'm guessing cycleways are equally as valid, in which case there are many more 6+s.
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.51176 ... a=!3m1!1e3 - this could count as eight, or is this two junctions?. (1. Embankment cycleway, 2. New Bridge Street cycleway, 3. Blackfriars Bridge cycleway, 4. Embankment, 5. New Bridge Street, 6. Blackfriars Bridge, 7. Queen Victoria Street, 8. Watergate
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.48633 ... a=!3m1!1e3 This is six.
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.49558 ... a=!3m1!1e3 Another six.

Im sure there are many cases where cycleways result in a junction having double the amount of signalised arms, but I just dont know where they are.

Found a six-way with only normal roads that also has an unsignalled entrance to a caravan dealers.

The image is from March 2009 showing it was definately in use. It has since been closed off with a barrier rather than new kerbing.

The juntion has been there since the Garstang by-pass opened and is on 1930's maps.

Technically a 7 here in Aylesford, with 3 normal signals and 4 illuminated no left/right turn signs for driveways in this narrow street.

EDIT: Also one here in Fleetwood, not including the tramway!

Nerdy fact - Of all the places in the world that I have been to just once, Fleetwood is the only one where I arrived by tram!
