Kendal northern by pass

Post by Glenn A »

It's back in the news in Kendal and has the name of the Kendal Northern Access Route. Anything that removes the crippling level of east- west traffic in town( north- south isn't so bad due to the by passes) gets my support.

Even if it is infested with rbts, it will still prove invaluable when the M6 is closed. This photo is from Jan 2018. If the M6 had never been built, there would have been a D2 across the north of Kendal to prevent this from happening. More S2/1 as well.

Roads and holidays in the west, before motorways.

Oh yes, the A6, a very pleasant drive into Kendal from jct 39 of the M6, but should the M6 have to close and traffic has to access the A591, then Kendal seizes up and the A6 becomes a lorry park. While not a magic bullet, the new road would remove a large amount of east- west traffic from the town and make access to places like Bowness on Windermere a lot quicker.
