Are the originals life-expired after 50 years? It's rather worrying if that's the case, with so many motorways opening in the 1970s.

No, in a nutshell Highways Agency for England National Department of State or whatever they're now called have decided M6 J10 needs a bigger roundabout which the existing bridges couldn't handle the design for.
