I found this accidentally when looking for something else:
https://maps.rotherham.gov.uk/mapping/
Change the map type to Aerial 1967 and see the M1 around Sheffield and Rotherham being built! I had no idea this existed, but love spending time on Google Earth's historical imagery.
Does anyone know of other local sites offering similar? Maybe we could make a list...

Various maps on the WCC site at http://maps.warwickshire.gov.uk/historical/ including aerials from 1999/2000 and 2005/6.
Let it snow.

Re: Localised historical aerial mapping sites
Cheshire East and West have 1971-73 aerial imagery available as a background map here - as well as the 1830s/40s Tithe maps: Cheshire East Tithe Maps. You can see the M56 under construction between Junction 7 + J11, and completely missing west of J14.
Also covers the Wirral, a good deal of Manchester and a bit of Liverpool, as well as a few bits of neighbouring counties.

Re: Localised historical aerial mapping sites
Google Earth has excellent aerial coverage of Kent, including full colour from 1990. I had no idea the A259 TOTSOed at Brenzett, or that the Lord of the Manor junction with the A253 (as was) and A256 was a crossroads.
