A9 Dualling: Tomatin to Moy construction
While the main construction work for the A9 Tomatin to Moy project is in the tendering process, with the contract expected to be awarded in late 2022, Network Rail are undertaking advance work to replace a masonry bridge under the Highland Mainline at Moy. This existing road (which previously linked to the A9 prior to the WS2+1 scheme) will form the new access from the B9154 to Lynebeg and to the left-in/left-out junction on the northbound carriageway.
The new concrete bridge has been preassembled on the opposite side of the B9154, with the demolition of the existing bridge and placement of the new bridge due to take place on the weekend of the 27th of November.

This has already been discussed in the main A9 dualling thread here.

How will the bridge be moved? I really can't imagine machinery that could pick up something that heavy and move it all the way to the bridge site (over rough ground, since it looks a good bit wider than the road). I'm surprised it's been assembled so far from the site - i would have thought it was easier to assemble it on the other side of the railway next to the existing bridge. Though that would mean bringing the components down from the A9 as I doubt they would fit through the arch.

They are closing the B9154 for several days and I recall they moved the new Bar Hill Bridge into position on the A14SteelCamel wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 21:25

It will be moved using self-propelled modular transporters, the verge of the road has been surfaced with sub-base to make it wide enough.
Where the bridge has been fabricated is just where there is sufficient space, there wouldn't be enough level ground between the railway and the A9.
The wing walls have been built closer so they can be positioned with a crane.
Here's some more information: http://murform.com/portfolio-item/a9-du ... inverness/
And here's a video of a similar concrete bridge being positioned with SPMTs. https://youtu.be/R4ca9xVYJqk

Not seen those before - that's a seriously impressive machine! I'd never have even considered that you could put a fully assembled bridge on wheels and move it.

Some photos of the bridge replacement work.
The SPMT being set up in the week ahead to the closure of the railway.
On the Sunday of the work, with the bridge in place and the wing walls being installed.
The railway track being laid on the Monday
Following completion
The two culverts installed under the railway to the south of Moy, during the closure, either side of where the A9 crosses the line, to facilitate drainage for the road upgrade.

That track alignment looks like it might just allow for a future double tracking too, hope that is the case otherwise a bit short sighted.
Re: A9 Dualling: Tomatin to Moy construction
I think it is definitely allowed for, it’s shown on this drawing of the bridge:

At the 2+1 at Moy a lot of tree felling - Lynebeg visible from A9 now! Works at Dalmagarry also . Getting there! Eventually...............

The completed Lynebeg rail bridge and local road improvements at Moy
Felled areas of forestry around Lynebeg
The rail overbridge at Moy and the two new culverts
Local road improvements in Tomatin, which include improved NMU facilities, bus stop and improved access to the distillery.
More felling at the northern end of the scheme near Meall Mor, which includes the widened A9 as well as the upgraded forestry road.
And two underpasses under the existing dual carriageway between Tomatin and Slochd which you've probably never noticed as you've driven over them.
